Thank you!

February 27, 2001 - 6:57am

Just so beautiful.  My parents are so lucky to wake up to this every morning.

I love you guys!  Thank you for a great weekend...and I love you so much!
February 26, 2011 - ALL DAY

Sunset in Westcliffe.  All day was windy and cold but when we finally saw blue sky and the sun it was a great moment.  It is so beautiful up there, I forget that I am only a few hours from home.

The two men in my life doing work on fixing a blow up mattress.  I think it was a great bonding moment for them.  It was great to watch.

Callaway with his new bandanna on....I had to ask him if he wanted a T-R-E-A-T so he would perk up his ears....  And I just had to spell treat so he didn't start whining now ;-)

There is this bright green....what I call moss, but my mother will know the actual name for it.  I was hiking around in the cold and wind and this is what I would see when I would go outside....

these people moving from window to window to make sure I was OK and didn't fall on my hand.  They sure do love me, but I love them too.

Importance of love

February 25, 2011 - 6:47pm

I will admit this isn't the most exciting image, I did not want to pull out my camera.  It was a rough week, especially this day.  Going to a funeral of a great man and hearing his 6 year old daughter stand up in front of hundreds of people and speak about her dad and how heartbreaking it was.    I realized I needed to remember what's important in life, and that's the people I love.  I love this man driving me to my parents.  He is so supportive and so willing to take care of me, no matter how much I fight him about it.  He knew it was important for me to give my mom and dad a hug and say I love you!  Life is so short.  Anything can change in a brief second and I do not want anyone that I love to doubt their importance in my life.  I am so thankful for everyone and how much each and every one has touched my heart.

I love painting almost as much as photography.  This is part of a painting that a dear friend made me a while ago....she is absolutely amazing painter.  Lindsay Hand is so talented.

Do Work!

February 23, 2011 - 5:15pm

Workers doing work at the Colorado Justice Center.  I just love this image....

Callaway's Toy

February 22, 2011 - 7:46pm

Callaway A.K.A. C-Man loves to chew the faces off his toys.  The top picture I thought was a moment in time that he wasn't attacking his toy.  He prances around like he needs to show off his prized possession.

Tribute to Grier

February 21, 2011 -

This post is a little different today.  I didn't take all these images today these were a few years ago.  I took an image today, but based on the news I just heard, I think this post is more appropriate.  Grier Laughlin was killed last night on E470 going to pick up his wife from the airport with his 3 children in the car.  The 3 children are doing well.  I worked and did a lot of photo work with him.  He was a kind man, and always seemed to be laughing and smiling. He will be missed by me and many.

Chloe Girl

February 20, 2011 - 5:17pm

Chloe is a crazy energetic puppy, but she makes my puppy very happy.  Callaway even gets depressed when we go home and she isn't around.

Lily

February 17, 2011 - 3:47pm

Lily is my 7 year old cat.  I got her the first day I moved out of my parents home to live in Denver.  She is pretty annoying at 3am but she is not your typical cat. She wants affection, and as soon as I sit down she wants to sit in my lap or next to me.  Sometimes if you wont pet her, that wont stop her, she will pet herself on any part of your body...sometimes using your face.   I can always count on her to bring a smile to my face even when your home sick from work.

Fred the gnome

February 16, 2011 - 10:25am

This is a gnome named Fred, well I named him Fred.  There is something about these tacky little statues that I find so cute.  They are hideous and can be found in all trailer parks around the nation, but when they are not a lawn ornament, I find them cute and mysterious.  Maybe the whole idea of Toy Story pops in my head..to think if they really do come to life  and mess with you when you aren't looking.  Hmmm....

What would you do or who would be the first person you would mess with if you had the chance...to not be caught of course?  And what would you do?  I think I would turn the knobs around on doors, so when you think you are turning it the right way to open the door, its wrong...I think people would freak out that they are stuck.

A Rare Sight

February 15, 2011 - 2:24pm

Alex Austin...all dressed up for....work.  This is a completely rare form of Alex at work...a smile... unless your a customer.  I'm kidding.  Alex is a great man and one of the hardest workers I have met.

Happy Non-Valentine's Day

February 14, 2011 - 12:47pm

This is a little abstract, but I wanted to try something a little different for Non-Valentine's Day.

I don't believe in Valentine's Day, I think with your loved one everyday should be Valentine's Day.  Make your own day, should you really just say "I love you" and pretend you mean it, with chocolates and flowers?  Isn't the gesture more meaningful on a day that isn't February 14th?

So this image isn't about love, but about a necessity....

Trip to Urgent Care

February 13, 2011 - 11:15am

On the way to the Urgent Care this morning and this bridge came up, and the first thing that came to my mind and out of James' mouth...."It would be awesome to jump off this thing" This is why he is the love of my life. Even on the way to Avon Urgent Care he still brings up more dangerous adventures we can do together. He helped me up the snow bank so I could take this picture.

I love you James.  Thank you for all your support and help.  You are truly amazing.

Vail Pass

February 12, 2011 - 3pm

Snowmobiling to the top of Vail Pass.  It was freezing cold and windy, but it was worth it.  You can see forever in all directions. Even when I broke my hand a few minutes after these were taken, it was worth it.

The broken right hand will make this project a little more difficult then I wanted it to be, but I am not going to give up.  This project will make me a better photographer...broken hand or not.

Favorite thing today!

My favorite thing in my office.  This little guy I hand painted and he just makes me smile.
For some reason I have had a thing for cows for years.  I dont know why they are so interesting to me, but maybe one day I will figure it out.

The start of a new project

February 11, 2011
A man I consider a very supportive mentor, really motivated me to pursue this project.  I have wanted to do a project like this for over a year now, and thanks to the motivating speech last night, I will begin this project this weekend.

The idea behind this project is to take an image and post and blog about each each day for a year, and I only get 5 days off during the year.  Its a tough task, but I think after a few weeks and getting into the habit of taking my camera everywhere and actually using it.  I always carry around my little snappy camera but the biggest hurdle is actually pulling out the camera to use it.

I think bloggs are a great idea, and I hope the people that end up following my blog enjoy the images.

Thanks for your support and wish me luck!

Thanks,
Emily
